How to get callbacks in warehouse job applications
Get your FLT licence
Counterbalance or reach truck licence costs £600–1,200 but adds £3–6k to your annual salary immediately. RTITB or ITSSAR accredited courses are found at most logistics training centres.
Know your WMS
Warehouse management systems (SAP WM, Oracle WMS, Microlistics, Infor) — list any you've used on your CV. Many JDs filter on this.
Apply at volume
Warehouse roles get 200+ applications. Submit the same week a role goes live, not 2 weeks later. Autoply applies to every relevant role automatically overnight.
Shift flexibility wins
If you can do nights, weekends, or rotating shifts, say so explicitly. It doubles your callback rate.
The warehouse job market in the UK — 2026
Warehouse and logistics is one of the UK's largest employment sectors, driven by the ongoing growth of e-commerce and last-mile delivery. Amazon alone employs over 75,000 people in the UK across its fulfilment network, and the wider 3PL sector — DHL, XPO, Wincanton, Clipper — consistently posts thousands of roles per month.
The career path is clearer than many sectors: operative → team leader → supervisor → manager. FLT licences and WMS experience are the two fastest ways to accelerate up that ladder and add immediate salary uplift without a degree.
Agency vs direct — which is faster?
Most warehouse roles at operative level are filled through agencies (Manpower, Reed, Adecco, Brook Street). Agency work often starts same-day and converts to permanent. For supervisor and manager roles, direct applications and specialist logistics recruiters (Bis Henderson, Cast UK) are more effective. Apply both routes simultaneously — volume matters most at this level.
Most warehouse roles are filled within 5 days of posting. Autoply applies to every relevant role the same night it goes live.
