How to get callbacks in logistics job applications
Get CILT membership
Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) membership opens doors. Level 3 Certificate (£1,200) often enough for coordinator to analyst jump.
SAP/Oracle experience is the differentiator
List every WMS, TMS or ERP system you've used. SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder — these filter candidates in ATS.
Certifications at mid-career
Transport Manager CPC (National or International) takes 3 days, costs £800, and is legally required for any Operator Licence holder. Worth having even if you're not there yet.
Apply broadly across sectors
A logistics coordinator role at a pharma company vs a retailer requires the same core skills. Apply to all sectors simultaneously with Autoply — one application overnight across 50+ logistics vacancies.
The logistics job market in the UK — 2026
Logistics and supply chain is one of the UK's most operationally critical sectors — and one of the most actively hiring. E-commerce growth, post-Brexit customs complexity, and the continued expansion of 3PL networks have all driven sustained demand at every level, from coordinator to director.
The mid-career opportunity is particularly strong right now. Supply chain managers and transport planners with 5–8 years of experience and systems knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder) are in chronic short supply. Companies that struggled to hire during the 2021–22 talent crunch are now offering significantly higher salaries to attract and retain experienced operators.
Do you need a CILT qualification to get hired?
At entry level, no — a logistics coordinator or warehouse supervisor role rarely requires CILT. But for analyst, manager, and director roles, CILT membership (and particularly the Level 5 or Level 6 Diploma) is a strong differentiator. The Transport Manager CPC is a legal requirement, not just a nice-to-have, if you're managing a vehicle fleet — so it's worth getting even before you need it.
The fastest path up in logistics is systems experience: if you can operate SAP EWM, run S&OP cycles, or manage a WMS implementation, your salary band jumps significantly. Autoply helps you apply across every sector simultaneously — because a logistics manager role in pharma, retail, or FMCG requires the same core skills.
